Artist Statement
My paintings are inspired by the world around me, capturing the emotional connection between myself and the landscape. As a migrant and a woman, I seek to explore this bond through curiosity, memory, and shared experiences, whether by walking alone or with my children under new skies and scenery. My focus is on conveying mood and emotion rather than creating literal representations of the land.My creative process is intuitive and spontaneous. While it often begins with a walk, a sketch, or a photograph, each painting evolves organically as I work, guided by the medium itself. Some pieces develop over weeks or months, building layers and textures, while others emerge in a single session using the Alla Prima technique.
A key element of my practice is Cold Wax Medium, a beeswax paste that, when combined with oil paint, adds body and creates a velvety, matte finish. This medium allows me to build depth, texture, and a tactile connection to the work.
Ultimately, my art is a reflection of my soul—a balance of process and emotion. Painting has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. It defines who I am, and without it, I would feel lost.
