Artist Statement

I am a reportage illustrator inspired by the natural world and the act of walking, which forms the foundation of my creative process. My work is rooted in authentic observation and embodied engagement with the landscapes I explore.

Influenced by Tim Ingold’s concept of the wayfarer, my work follows a phenomenological approach, exploring how walking shapes our understanding of the world and influences our creative responses, while focusing on sustainable, mindful practices. Walking is not just a source of inspiration but a meditative and creative methodology, allowing me to immerse myself in nature in a tactile way to form meaningful connections with the environments I encounter. This process shapes the direction and depth of my work.

I craft my own inks and paints from foraged plants, rocks, and other organic materials, embedding sustainability and a sense of place into each piece. This hands-on exploration of materials merges art, science, and nature, enabling me to create imagery that resonates with the textures and colours of the earth. Through drawing and painting, I seek to capture the essence of the landscapes, flora, and fauna I encounter, fostering a deeper connection to the environments that inspire me.

I am now focused on expanding the participatory aspect of my practice, using walking and artistic expression as tools to enhance creativity and well-being. I aim to engage women who may feel hesitant about exploring natural spaces alone, offering guided opportunities to reconnect with nature through drawing and other creative activities. By fostering confidence, encouraging embodied observation, and building a sense of community, I hope to inspire others to embrace the transformative power of walking and art as pathways to personal growth, environmental connection, and self-discovery.
