Artist Statement
My art is inspired by my personal experiences, with photography serving as a vital link between memory and creation. By drawing from real-life moments captured through the lens, I reinterpret these on canvas, merging the precision of photography with the fluidity of paint. My goal is to capture the essence and individuality of each animal I portray, bringing them to life and allowing viewers to connect with their spirit and unique personalities.Photography is central to my artistic process, acting as a bridge between observation and imagination. I use my photographs not merely as reference points but as emotional anchors, enabling me to reinterpret fleeting moments and transform them into enduring narratives.
I am particularly fond of square canvases due to their visual symmetry and versatility. Their balanced format creates a sense of harmony, making each piece feel complete while offering a dynamic appeal when displayed as part of a collection. I relish the challenge of working within this space, as it encourages thoughtful composition and a creative interplay of form and colour. When arranged together, the square canvases form a cohesive visual rhythm, enhancing the impact of each individual painting.
Acrylic is my preferred medium for its versatility and vibrancy. Its fast-drying nature allows me to layer textures and experiment with bold colors, capturing the energy and movement of the animals I paint. Each piece reflects my intuitive approach to painting, where spontaneity and experimentation lead the way.
Through my work, I aim to capture their personalities in a fun and quirky manner, celebrating the beauty of animals and their profound connection to us and the world around us. By inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and discover their own interpretations within the pieces, I hope to convey the joy and wonder of these creatures.
