Artist Statement

Rachel Eastop is a botanical artist living and working in the picturesque village of Hayfield, Derbyshire.

Following a degree in Landscape Architecture she explored her passion for art in a range of media. Rachel discovered a love for botanical art in 2021 which led her to undertake the certificate in botanical illustration with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, for which she received a distinction.

She works in a range of mediums, including graphite and watercolour.

Rachel is a member of Hayfield Artists, the Society of Botanical Artists (SBA), and the Association of Botanical Artists (ABA). Rachel is currently undertaking a two-and-a-half-year diploma in botanical art with the SBA.

Her cross section of a red cabbage has been exhibited digitally in the ABA ‘beauty in the detail’ exhibition, and the original was exhibited as part of the Harley Open 2024 exhibition.
