Artist Statement

Rural vernacular inspired gardenalia, homewares and folk art.
My name is Rob T and I'm from a rural farming background in Derbyshire. What began as some farm diversification has grown into a small business. I am an artist working in acrylics, inspired by farm animals and also an artisan, creating things from wood. My crafts range from animal shaped chalkboards, garden trugs, bird boxes and feeders to themed hook racks, signs and other unique gifts. These are also inspired by simple, rural vernacular woodwork shapes and forms. Where possible I use reclaimed materials, especially for my furniture designs, where this isn’t possible I use sustainably sourced timber.
My work has also expanded to creating small folk-art inspired sculptures of animals, from native nature to farm animals. These have become a specialty and a passion as I keep alive traditional skills to record regional farm animal breeds that are becoming ever rarer.
