Bob Bernard

Location: Dronfield   /  Genre: Oil Paintings, Pastels

Artist Statement

Bob Bernard is an artist originally from Manchester who moved to study fine art at Sheffield Polytechnic's Psalter Lane site in 1984 and has remained a South Yorkshire resident to this day.
Bob uses expressive colours and mark making with both his oil paint and pastels to capture the striking and rugged scenery of the Peak District.
He has exhibited at shows locally, nationally and internationally, including this year’s Pastel Societies 125th Annual Open exhibition in London and is a member of Peak District Artisans.
On a more personal note, Bob was diagnosed with Parkinson’s 5 years ago,
"I may have a shortened window of time in which I can keep painting well. With Parkinson’s being degenerative, enforced changes have moved my work away from commercial illustration and graphics to focus on my own personal artwork. I am trying to use my Parkinson’s as a positive, as an opportunity to make art."
