Location: Beeley   /  Genre: Textiles

Artist Statement

Jude Shore is a contemporary textile artist based in the Peak District. Her work is inspired by forms and textures in the natural world; she loves pebbles and the sea but takes much of her inspiration from the flora and fauna, colours and ever changing light found in the wide open spaces of the Peak District. Jude uses her fine felt making skills, together with hand and free drawn machine embroidery techniques, to create unique surfaces from which she makes wall hung art works as well as a range of individually designed, sculptural felted vessels and accessories.
Being conscious of the impact her work has on the environment, Jude uses sustainable fabrics and fibres and tries where possible to reuse, recycle or repurpose many of the other materials used her work which adds to the individuality of each piece.

Jude is looking forward to exhibiting alongside the other members of Ecostitchers during Derbyshire Open Arts Festival. She is using issues of climate change to explore their 2025 theme ‘Habitats’ to showcase an exciting, high quality body of innovative textile art at Beeley Village Hall.
