Artist Statement
I am a visual artist, formerly specialising in bespoke contemporary textile art.I spent some time travelling in India and Indonesia and I became deeply interested in mandalas. I learnt that the repetition, patterns, colours and the geometry were all aspects of mandalas which helped to take the spectator into a meditative space. But, the true power, I discovered, was in the process of creating them. The process took me into the meditative realm. This is where the gift is – the connection with the soul. Through these experiences I felt compelled to incorporate sacred geometry and the geometry of architecture into my new mandala art work.
Therefore all works are based on the mandala and all works are hand drawn and hand painted using pencil, inks and acrylics.
I also run mandala art workshops either drawing the mandala or dotting the mandala with paint at my studio in Whaley Bridge in the Peak District.
