Artist Statement

Elaine creates ceramic sculptures and homewares inspired by flower forms, architectural elements and her east asian heritage.
Each piece is hand-build from stoneware and porcelain clays with intricate details such as petals, folded elements or tentacles created and applied individually, if you look closely you will often see her handprints on many of the sculptures. These elements are often arranged in such a way to appear to flow or move giving Elaines sculptures a unique life of their own. Bold coloured, glossy and matt glazes are used to enhance each piece and give them a lovely tactile quality.
