Artist Statement

My work aims to give the viewer a moment of calm, reflection and solitude. I aim to give a mindful experience through wide open green spaces captured usually at the sunrise or golden hour. My paintings have a contemporary sensibility though, I use traditional oil painting techniques including plein air. My inspiration comes from painting the view outside in oils or watercolour and charcoal and these act as my starting point to enlarge back at the studio. When painting I can find myself lost in the landscape, living in the landscape, this experience gives me a sense of peace and I hope the viewer too.
