Artist Statement

With an inquisitive mind, Peter Marshall describes his life as a journey of creative discovery and learning; inspired by places and objects around the environments he visits. After retiring from teaching art and design he built a garden studio. He is making thrown and hand built clay forms, drawing ideas from ancient cultures, geological features, natural forms and found objects. Developing coloured slips and glazes, he fuses smoke, pit, Raku, wood reduction and electric oxidised firings. He has completed commissions of ‘domestic ware’ but his interests mainly lie in developing individual sculptural ideas.
