Artist Statement

Creative expression has always been intrinsic to my journey and exploration of the natural landscape in the High Peak. After a period of restoring and selling mid century sewing boxes using vibrant, internal materials I was drawn to mixed media painting on wood incorporating elements of collage. Each piece captures the fragile relationship between humanity and the land using alcohol ink on wood, exploring our reliance on the earth for survival and the impact of humanity on the earth. The beauty of the wood grain is enhanced creating an immersive experience and mood beyond the visual. Themes and titles include After the Storm, Root and Rock, Erosion, Land and Sea, Light and Peace.
