Artist Statement

Using the medium of beads and traditional embroidery techniques, natural formations both on land and sea are viewed and translated.
By stitching what is seen about us and within the seas, formations are demonstrated within their surrounding habitat.
Inspiration is drawn from time-worn changes and weather forced alterations to our landscapes.

Unless you dive below the ocean and see the damage that we have caused to coral-beds and the natural habitats of the fish and sea creatures, little thought is given to the impact.

If you don't sit with your back against the tree and look at its amazing creation that has been bowed by man-made structures, then you will not own the outcome.

If you don't look to your own body, and its impact upon the ground you walk on, then there will be little left to admire.

The pieces of work offer delicate detail and structure to the chosen subjects, and ask you to look closer, follow the curve, observe the structure and feel the need for each and every stitch to tell you the story and inspire your imagination.
