Artist Statement

My love of silver jewellery began with a special 21st gift from my Welsh Grandparents.
A visit to an AMMF artisan market in January 2023 led to the creation of Cartref Unique Silver Jewellery. Cartref meaning home in Welsh.
My pieces have Welsh names relating to special people /places in my life and celebrate my grandparents' heritage. Each piece forms part of a collection so you could have just one or a matching set.
I create my own designs using various different techniques to create interesting textural pieces of wearable art! Silversmithing skills are applied in unusual situations to make bespoke work. Specific finishes (matt, satin, highly polished or darker antique) to enhance the pattern.
Inspirations for my jewellery comes from nature, art, architecture, lace, fabric / wallpaper. Alongside cultural influences Middle Eastern/Asian jewellery and art.
Every design is crafted with care and attention and intended to be a timeless elegant piece of British craftsmanship. Reflecting our rich cultural cottage industry heritage tradition with a contemporary modern twist to be enjoyed for years to come.
