Artist Statement

Rebecca Gallagher is an abstract artist living in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales with her five year old daughter, a spirited chihuahua, and a house filled with art and plants. From her home studio, she brings vivid, expressive oil paintings to life, carves wooden sculptures and plans epic murals.

Although her artistic journey began with A-level studies in art, Rebecca’s path has been anything but conventional. She explored archaeology, writing, jewellery making, and ran a business before returning to her true calling—painting. Now, fully immersed in her creative practice, she couldn’t be happier.

Rebecca’s bold, large-scale oil paintings are alive with movement, emotion, and power. Like shifting clouds, flowing water, or roaring fire, her work invites you to gaze deeper and discover hidden forms. Her work is full of symbolism, emotion and beauty. For Rebecca, the magic of her art lies in its ability to speak uniquely to each viewer, with individual interpretations and connections.

Beyond painting, Rebecca is a versatile creator who also produces murals, woodcarvings, jewellery, illustrations, and commissions. She is also passionate about using art for self exploration and connection with the world and others and will be sharing this through events and workshops.
