Artist Statement

The mystery that glimmers through our natural world influences my art. Weaving ideas from science and mythology into that narrative, I work mainly with oils on canvas in my studio, in an historic Arkwright building in Wirksworth. Living in Derbyshire, I love to go out walking, observing the ever changing skies, the ancient dales and the woodlands around my home. From my photographs and sketches I use colour, light and composition to create paintings that express meaning and emotion.
